Wootton & Dry Sandford Reserves 3-0 Hanney Utd

To say we could have killed the game off within 20 minutes would be an understatement. Even in foul conditions with hail and heavy rain, we had enough chances to win the game three times over.  Wisey crossed from far right for Fish to bring down and fire in.  After that chance after chance went begging and we became frustrated against a poor side.  The back four were rarely troubled and Simon Matthews in goal saved well when needed.
We dominated again in the second half but could not turn possession into points until James Booker chipped their keeper for the second. After more missed chances Joffy secured our third. To give the players their due, conditions were awful. However, once again we had our "unsung hero" on the line Phil Knight, who never gives less than 100% every week.

Uffington 0 - 4 Wootton & Dry Sandford Reserves

This game was played on a very wet pitch in blustery conditions which made for difficult conditions to play attractive football.
The game was dominated from the first whistle by Wootton but it took quite a while for the first goal to come, but once Sam Nicholls had lashed a 20 yarder it became clear that this was not a game that Wootton was about to loose.
James Ivey got the second goal after a fine move and Johnny Fisher eventually got the third after a number of missed opportunities to make it three nil at half time.
The second half was a bit disjointed but the fourth goal arrived after 75 minutes courtesy of Johnny Fisher to take his tally to 10 goals for the season in all competitions.
Lewis Mackay had a great run beating a number of players and pulling it back for his brother Calum to knock into an empty net, but unfortunately this was disallowed for offside.
The game finished 4-0 with Wootton the worthy winners.

Long Wittenham Reserves 3-5 Wootton & Dry Sandford Reserves

We got off to the best possible start going 2-0 up within 10 minutes - both goals from Danny Sumner.  We looked easily in control early on against a side poor in defence.  Andy Drummond scrambled in the third goal then James Booker scored with a fine 20 yard lob.  Wittenham came back with a well taken goal (giving Roly no chance). In defence and mid-field we looked comfortable.  James Ivey coming back from injury, worked hard on the left and up-front we were well in charge.
Second half was more of a lack-lustre display, maybe thinking the game was already won. 4-1 became 4-2 until Wisey rattled in the fifth. A soft goal from their corner made the last ten minutes edgy.  Joffy replaced Fish up-front and looked sharp on his return from injury.
Never-the-less - a win is a win and still unbeaten in the league.
Man of the match - JAMES IVEY.

A G KINGHAM CUP

Wootton & Dry Sandford Reserves 5-3 Benson Reserves

After another slow start, we were caught cold defending 2 set-pieces - a long throw and a free kick put us 2-0 down. Although Mark Uttleys' goal got us back into the game, a mis-kick from Roly shortly before half-time left us 3-1 down.  After a re-shuffle in defence we looked more organised in the second half and Roly was more of a spectator as we totally out-played Benson. Goals from Mark Uttley, Sam Nicholls, Ben Pethick and Josh Nicholls sealed the game. With all the possession and chances we had, we could have won by a bigger margin.

North Berks League Cup - Preliminary Round

Wootton & Dry Sandford Reserves 1 - 2 Steventon Reserves

After dominating the first two league games, it was disappointing to perform as we did.  Although missing key players, we didn't match up to previous weeks.  We went 1-0 down mid-way through the first half and were very quiet both vocally and possession wise. Going 2-0 down early in the second half didn't help, but then a cracking 20 yard strike from James Booker with 20 minutes to go gave us the momentum to fight back. Despite running the game from then on we didn't take our chances.
Roly kept us in the game with several good saves and was made man of the match.

Didcot Casuals Reserves
0 - 9 Wootton and Dry Sandford Reserves

To have scored 9 goals after 7 the first week was a real bonus.  Confidence was high from the start which was boosted by Josh Nicholls scoring after five minutes.  We could easily have sealed the game after ten minutes with the chances we had.

Sam Nicholls hit a screamer from 25 yards and Johnny Fisher put us 3-0 up before half-time.  Second half goals from Josh Nicholls (55), Danny Sumner (56), Johnny Fisher (65,88), Sam Nicholls (70) and Nobby Clarke (penalty 78) killed the game off. Roly and the back four worked well together.  James Booker and Sam Nicholls in mid-field out-ran Didcot and with Johnny and Josh up-front we were always likely to score.
